British Ambassador Mark Kent to host Harry Potter Book Night

Britain’s Ambassador to Argentina, Mark Kent, will open the doors of his official residence this year as host of the third Harry Potter Book Night.

The February 1 event will take place in the residence’s ga rdens a nd i nclude Quidditch games, trivia and dressups, among other activities involving one of the UK’s most adored fictional characters.

The Harry Potter Book Night is part of a global initiative by Bloomsbury Publising to promote reading. The Buenos Aires event is organised by the British Embassy, the British Council and the agency FanCon. Around 1,000 people attended the event in 2017.

Following its release in 1997, JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series became an international phenomenon, enjoying unprecedented sales and a cult following that saw millions of young people turn away from technology (albeit briefly) in favour of the latest Harry Potter installment.

Free tickets to the Harry Potter Book Night will be available from January 23 via a link to be published on the Embassy’s social media sites.
